So the holidays are over and it’s time to get back to reality, but before we do that, why don’t we look at some fun event ideas I came across this week, shall we?
#5 – Dyed food to match your color scheme
Want a subtle (or not so subtle) way to infuse your color scheme into your event? Try dying your food (preferably ask your caterer first). This was from a breast cancer fundraiser; the caterer dyed the deviled eggs pink. Why not? Just make sure they food still looks appetizing in the new color. Photo via BizBash.
#4 – Washi tape candles
I’ll admit that I’m a huge fan of this washi tape craze, but this is one of the more clever uses of it that I have seen. Dressing up candles is a great budget decor idea. Since washi tape is so popular right now and comes in so many different colors and prints, you are bound to find something that works with your color scheme. Bonus points for DIY-ness! #3 – Potted plant seating chart
For a fun twist on the seating chart and escort card, I like this garden themed idea: have potted plants (this one is lavender) in numbered pots, and have each guests’ name written on a popsicle stick like an herb marker. What a cute idea! This works best for a smaller wedding where the guests wouldn’t have to look through a ton of pots. I especially like this for an outdoor wedding. The way this is propped up on a piece of birch makes it look rustic, but it could easily go the elegant route instead. Photo by Lavender & Twine via Style Me Pretty.
#2 – Embellished paper lantern
Paper lanterns’ popularity rises and falls, but I do like this particular one, which is embellished with paper flowers, including pages from a book. I like to think that the book is something super romantic like Pride and Prejudice, which is my favorite novel of all time, but I guess it could also just be news print or the tax code or something that deserves to be cut up. #1 – The coolest tent ever
This is a tent that ascribes to the philosophy: go big or go home. Or go custom columns or go home. Or something. This thing is gorgeous! This was from a wedding at the Ojai Resort in California. Definitely not your run of the mill tent. Maybe not necessary for most tented events, but I love the creativity! Photo by Elizabeth Messina via Elizabeth Anne Designs.
