If you want a good view of a skyline, sometimes you have to be outside of the city to see it. That’s what my husband always says about New York City – why live in the city when you can live in Hoboken, New Jersey and have a view OF the city?

The same goes for Washington, DC. Sure, there are some awesome views of the Capitol from within city limits (such as the Newseum or the Library of Congress), but to be able to see more of the city, you need to go across the river to Arlington, VA. There are a few venues in Arlington (and Alexandria) which boast a view of the DC skyline. I am going to be using one of these venues for a holiday party in December – Top of the Town.

Top of the Town is located in Rosslyn, only a few blocks from the metro (although there is also a private parking lot for the space which is included in the rental fee). It’s a special events venue only, and there is really just the ballroom and terrace, so they only do one event at a time. The space is on the 12th floor of a condo building (since it’s in a residential area, there are more noise regulations than you’d expect). But as you can see, the view is spectacular:

I love the floor to ceiling windows – it really showcases what you are there for, which is the view.

The capacity for the space is about 185 max. We are going to be using it for a 150 person cocktail reception in December.

There is also the terrace – I’d love to find a way to use the terrace even if it will be cold in December.

This is a pretty exciting space – it was built as a restaurant in the 1960s and was renovated in 1999 to become a meeting facility. It’s a well-known space in Arlington.

I’ll be sure to share photos after our event in December!
