lighting can transform a room

lighting for weddings and events

One of the easiest ways to transform any room is through lighting. I’ve been a fan of lighting rooms for a while, but this weekend I was coordinating a wedding where uplighting and draping was used in a fantastic way. The wedding was at the Hyatt Arlington, one of my favorite hotels in Arlington. I’ve done many events there, but never a wedding before. I was excited to see the ballroom transformed.

The ballroom at the Hyatt Arlington isn’t bad on its own – it’s just plain. Here is a before shot:

Now, look at this shot of the reception. Now this was during set up but the lighting and draping are complete:

Hard to believe it’s the same room, right?

This was done with standard white pipe and drape along the back wall (service entry) and amber uplighting around the room. The gorgeous feather centerpieces by Da Vinci Florist also help change the mood!

Believe it or not, this kind of lighting is not expensive. Doing a basic uplighting package is one of the most cost-effective ways to transform space. Of course lighting can get more expensive depending on what you choose, but to simply give a ballroom a different feel, basic is ok.

Here are some other examples of excellent lighting:

Lighting really can work wonders! Consider adding a lighting package to your next event where you want to change the feel of the space!
